Herbal medicine is as old as the hills and now researchers have found that it is certainly as old as neanderthals. Digging away in a cave in Spain, they found some 50,000-year-old neanderthal teeth, with traces of chamomile and yarrow. This sounds like a very nice tea to me but they are also very useful herbs with applications across so many systems: digestive, circulatory, nervous, respiratory. Of course, they were using these medicinal herbs before modern drugs came along, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t still relevant today. Beautiful plants, powerful medicine!
